Robert Kocharian’s Return will Cause Damages: Anahit Bakhshyan
Heritage Party faction member Anahit Bakhshyan thinks that the return of Armenia’s second president, Robert Kocharian, to power will be a slap on the face for Armenia and will undermine the country’s ability to address foreign and domestic challenges.
In an April 6 parliamentary session, Bakhshyan said that instead of taking steps towards national consolidation, those who, just two years ago, considered news about Kocharian’s return to politics as unfounded, are now substantiating and justifying it.
According to Bakhshyan, during Kocharian’s 10 years in office, the autocratic pyramid of power, yet not fully developed, was finally established in Armenia.
In her words, Kocharian is the very official who had nothing in common with the democracy defined by the RA Constitution, with the rule of law, with justice.
According Bakhshyan, the Republic’s second president is the very person who amassed immense wealth at the expense of the state and whose name was inseparably connected with the October 27 and March 1 events in Armenia’s history.
“It is unobjectionable that Robert Kocharian’s return to any state position can cause large damages to huge foreign and domestic challenges towards the fragile possibility of national consolidation that still exists,” said Bakhshyan.

Mr. Robert Kocharyan, the bloody President of Armenia ought to perish. The existenance of Mr. Kocharyan is already a big damage for the subtle Armenian soul. The big damage will recover and the True Armenian Spirit will revive in case Mr. Stepan Demirjian and Mr. Aram Sargsian the honest and True Armenians, alongside with Mrs. Anahit Bakhshyan, spoke up and told the Truth about 10/27/99 and 03/01/08.
It will take few generation until we get an acceptable government who will looks after the country and not his own pockets. I hope by then Armenia will still exist.
I wonder why AMERICANS can not just get along and stop their disputes and bickering.
Why are AMERICANS divided for almost a year over health care reforms. Gee, why couldn’t all Americans just support their president? I don’t understand why Americans are always divided on a number of issues. Why couldn’t the Republicans just get along with democrats? Why so many people dislike president Bush? Why so much hatred for Mr. Cheney? I really don’t understand those Americans.
I never heard the words “corruption” used in the US-media for the failed Enron, Lehman Brothers, Bear Stearns, and other financial institutions. Mr. Madoff was never called names like “oligarch” even though he stole US $150 billion.
Gee, I wonder if the US can be referred to as the former British colony of the United States (as in the former soviet republic of Armenia). Can one label the democratic party as “Left-wing radical democratic party? How about extreme right-wing nationalists republican party?
Can the US be labeled as “failed-State” for nationalizing the banks (a polite term would be bailout)?
With all due respect to Samvel Jeshmaridian, PhD, but should president Bush “ought to perish”? or, maybe with all respects, per Hagop Arakelian “It will take few generation until we get an acceptable government”
Most Armenian citizens like their American counterparts respect their former presidents; each performed their duties admirably.
