Ahmet Davutoglu Interview With Aljazeera, Refering to The Armenian Genocide as “War of Propaganda”
Al Jazeera’s Sami Zeidan talks to Ahmet Davutoglu, the Turkish foreign minister, about Ankara’s re-energized foreign policy, and the current diplomatic relations with Armenia.
When asked by the Aljazeera on when he will get the Turkish parliament to ratify the Armenian Turkish Protocol. Davutoglu Said “in Turkey rule of law and according to our constitution, the government responsibilities is just sending this agreement to the Parliament, we cannot impose anything on the Parliament”
“Do you have a time line”, asked Zeidan, “for this type of decision, how the parliament takes the time table, the psychological and political atmosphere is important. Otherwise we do not want these protocols rejected by the parliament so it should be voted when in the most suitable political atmosphere.” Davutoglu answered.
Next, Sami Zeidan asked, “Are you saying ratifying the deal in the Turkish parliament is linked to how much political progress is made on the issue of Nagorno Karbakh?
“of course we have been saying that this protocols will have positive impact on the stability of southern Caucasia and particularly on Armenian Azeri dispute, Azerbaijani dispute to end the occupation of Azeri territories by Armenia, so this is our believe when there is such a progress will have a very positive impact on the ratification process in our parliament. But if there is deterioration of the situation or if there is no hope for such a development, then the members of our parliaments will have a negative tendency to vote.” stated Davutoglu
When asked about the Armenian genocide and the establishment of the historical commission. Mr. Davutoglu referred to the genocide as ”War of Propaganda” and said “I am self Confident, I know the Archives”.
The interview concluded by discussing Cyprus and the Balkan region.
