Signs Were Disturbing in New Protest in Yerevan
Deputy Zaruhi Postanjyan and 20 protesters held a protest in front of the Government building today, but police officers only allowed them to put up the signs and scream “Traitors” for a little while.
“The crime against humanity still hasn’t been punished”, “Armenian government, you are responsible for 10 million Armenians”, “Taleat, Enver, Jemal-they sentenced them to death penalty”-these and others were the words on the signs of protesters who had gathered in front of the government building with maps of Armenia to protest the Turkey-Armenia Protocols and remind the prime minister that he is responsible for 10 million Armenians and not 3 million.
The police formed a barricade, stole the signs, ripped them and threw some of them into the garbage can. They reasoned that the signs were illegal and were not appropriate to put up in front of the Government building.
NA Deputy Zaruhi Postanjyan said that in his interview, Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan had said that the RA state officials are only responsible for 3 million Armenians. “However, the current Armenian government must be held responsible for the entire Armenian nation across the globe and it is in that context that he says that the Turkey-Armenia Protocols must be ratified. We believe that the ratification of the Turkey-Armenia Protocols is the continuation of genocide, deprivation of lands and killing of cultural heritage and the existence of the Armenian state in general,” said Postanjyan.
The protesters took their signs and marched to the presidential residence. The police didn’t even let them walk in front of the Government building. The protesters walked by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs where they screamed “traitors” once again.
