All-Armenian Fund: The next fund raiser is to be launched October 1
The 2009 Hayastan All-Armenian Fund is set to raise money for “development programs of Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh’s border villages,” according to organizers.
Executive Director of the Fund Ara Vardanyan has called on all donors to respond from October 1 to December 31. Citizens of Armenia can make cash donations in all 950 branches of ‘HayPost’.
Hayastan All-Armenian Fund was founded in 1992, and is meant to promote human aid and development of substructures in the Republic of Armenia and the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic. During 17 years of existence the Fund implemented about 1,000 major programs costing about $200 million.
Last year, more than 12 million drams ($34,000) were raised through the HyePost system. The largest donation was 500,000 drams (about $1,400) from a resident of Gyumri (Shirak Province), who lives in one of the apartments built thanks to the Fund; and the smallest donation was 10 drams (about 3 cents).
During the recent three-four years 50-60 percent of the Fund’s money and 90 percent of the money gathered last year, was raised by residents of Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh.
“Our businessmen understood that business cannot develop in Armenia if people live poorly. Besides, businessmen have great hope toward the Fund,” says Vardanyan commenting on the great number of Armenian businessmen participating in the fundraising.
